The BIG Pink Dress Exhibition
This July, as part of the Durham City Run Festival, Prince Bishops Shopping Centre will be hosting our very own exciting event: the BIG Pink Dress Exhibition!
For those of you who aren't familiar with The Man in the Big Pink Dress, it's a cause founded by fundraiser Colin Burgin-Plews, who in recent years has raised an impressive £116,500 for a variety of charities, in particular £45,000 for Breast Cancer Now, after his dear friend was diagnosed with the disease. Standing at 6'6" tall, Colin has ran an incredible 29 marathons, half-marathons, and 10k races in an assortment of his extravagant, and now iconic dresses, that he creates himself by hand.
As part of the Durham City Run Festival, Prince Bishops are extremely proud to be showcasing a selection of Colin's dresses at various locations around the centre for visitors to enjoy and to help raise awareness of Colins remarkable fundraising achievements.
The Man in the Big Pink Dress will be making an extra special appearance at this year's Durham City Run as a fundraising ambassador for Prince Bishops Shopping Centre. In the lead up to this year's festival we are hoping to raise over £1000 for the Treetops children's unit at the University Hospital North Durham. The ward, with a team of paediatric doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants, provides assessment and treatment for children from birth to
16 years old. You can show your support by making a donation here. DONATE
Design My BIG Pink Dress Competition
As an additional exciting opportunity, secondary schools from across County Durham and the North East have a chance to design Colins dress for this year's Durham City Run 2019. Think Durham, fun, fashion and fundraising when creating your design.
The winning design will be hand-made and worn by Colin on race day. Better yet, the winning school can put forward an ambassador who, on the day of the race, will get the chance to fire the starting pistol!
Hit our BIG Pink button to downland your entry form.
Designs must be submitted no later than Thursday 21st June.
