Durham Shopping Centre Raises Money for Children’s Hospitals
Prince Bishops Shopping Centre in Durham City was one of 140 shopping centres throughout the UK which recently took part in the One Great Day family fundraiser initiative masterminded by the UK-wide Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
As part of the nationwide event, Prince Bishops held a prominent fundraising day on its malls to raise money for the children’s hospital, and also, locally for Treetops Children’s Ward at University Hospital of North Durham (UHND). The family fun day featured traditional-fair activities for children including Spin The Wheel, Hook-A-Duck and Skittles, encouraging everyone to take a break, have fun, and learn more about the hospitals and their work.
Overall, the event raised £250 for Treetops Ward UHND and Great Ormond Street across the day. Richard Toynbee, Centre Manager of Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, said:
“Thank you to all who took part in our One Great Day event. We are so pleased to have been able to bring the community together to raise funds to make children’s lives better. Thank you to everyone .”
One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised over £500,000 for 110 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. One Great Day now covers over 50 million square feet of retail space across the United Kingdom, from Folkestone to Aberdeen.
