Game, set, watch the match
Durham city centre shoppers were served up a slice of live tennis in July as Prince Bishops Shopping Centre got in full swing to celebrate Wimbledon 2014.
It set up centre court seats and offered visitors the opportunity to relax in its VIP marquee with a glass of champagne to watch the big matches, streamed direct from Wimbledon.
The event which ran from Friday 4 July until Sunday 6 July, played all the scheduled matches including the Men’s and Women’s finals.
Richard Toynbee, centre manager at Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, said: “Our Wimbledon weekender was a great addition to the various events we run here. We’re always looking for different things to do and what with Wimbledon being one of the highlights of the sporting calendar we thought we’d bring some of its glamour to Durham."
The event, which was supported by Whisky River, served a selection of drinks and refreshments, including Wimbledon favourites; Pimms, Moet Champagne and strawberries and cream.
Kate Shepherd, joint owner of Whisky River, said: “We really enjoyed serving up some Wimbledon style hospitality across the weekend. "
