NEWS: Durham Mums on the Run take on the Siglion Sunderland City 10K!
Prince Bishops Shopping Centre have proudly sponsored a local Run England running group for women that organises free sessions every Monday morning at Maiden Castle, Durham City. The group, named simply 'Durham Mums on the Run' (DMotR) is the brain child of Kate Thomas who recognised a need for a fun and friendly way to get mums together to learn to run. When Kate left, the sessions died down - Kate Macpherson (another Kate!) was inspired to re-launch the popular group and it has grown larger than anticipated with around 70 women attending each week.
Recently over 40 Durham mums (image above) completed the Siglion Sunderland City 10K which is a fantastic acheivement . From Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, well done everyone!
Durham Mums on the Run sessions include a thorough warm up/cool down and as well as track sessions the leaders also offer a C25K (couch to 5K) course, a postnatal group and small groups go off to run hill reps or offroad runs. If you're interested in becoming a Durham mum on the run you can find them on Facebook.
