NEWS: TSB, Durham back Durham Hospitals Radio
Councillor John Robinson, The Mayor of Durham has selected the first local charity partner for TSB Bank located in Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, Durham City.
The Mayor and Mayoress were invited into the Durham City branch of TSB inside the shopping complex on Friday 20th March where Durham Hospitals Radio was selected from a shortlist of charities nominated by local TSB customers and Partners. TSB’s branches in County Durham will now aim to raise as much money as possible for the radio station throughout 2015 to support the work the charity does in the local community.
Instead of having a centrally-chosen Charity of the Year, TSB Partners across Britain are empowered to recognise local causes which share the Bank’s passion for helping local communities thrive. Durham Hospitals Radio was nominated locally for its vital work in broadcasting to the patients at The University Hospital of North Durham.
Anita Clark, Branch Manager at TSB said of the new partnership, “I’m really excited to announce Durham Hospitals Radio as our first Local Charity Partner in Durham. Our focus at TSB is to serve local customers and businesses in order to fuel local economies, and that’s why we’re launching a new approach to how we support charity and community.”
The volunteer-ran radio station now broadcasts 24-hours a day and over the past fifty three years has provided information about the numerous services and facilities within the hospital as well as music and chat.
“I’m delighted to see this local partnership get off the ground. I’m sure that together, they’ll make a real difference to our local community, I wish them the best of luck,”
TSB will be hosting a charity coffee morning on June 2nd from 10am, there will be homemade cakes, a tombola and book sales - all donations very welcome!
