Staff at Fat Face, Durham handed over just under £1,000 to the Treetops Children’s Unit at University Hospital of North Durham as part of a nationwide “Thanks for Giving” campaign initiated on Black Friday last year. British clothing favourites, Fat Face’s “Thanks for Giving” initiative pledged 10% of its NET profits to those in need, turning the concept of Black Friday on its head. The idea came from a desire to support local charities and turn discounting into something more positive before Christmas.
The fundraising took place between Thursday 26th and Monday 30th November 2015 across all Fat Face stores and at fatface.com and, after a great response from customers, plus significant support on Facebook and Twitter, just under £200,000 was raised which has been shared equally between all 221 retail outlets.
Amy Pledger, manager of Fat Face, Durham said: “we wanted to support a charity that is close to our hearts and Treetops was at the top of the list, as I’m sure it is for the majority of parents in County Durham, we are honoured to present them with a significant amount of money that will make a difference. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the customers who donated in store.”
