Parking in the heart of Durham city


Prince Bishops Car Park Durham CityPrince Bishops car park is located right in the heart of Durham city and is the closest car park to the unmissable UNESCO World Heritage Site - Durham Catherdral and Castle. Parking here means you're right in the heart of the city the moment you step out of your vehicle and with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and contactless payment technology, parking here couldn't be easier. The car park has 400 spaces and is situated directly beneath Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, the number one retail destination in Durham city

Please be aware the the car park closes each night at midnight and re-opens at 6am.

Heading to Durham for an evening out but need to take the car? Our night owl tarriff solves all your problems. To qualify for the Night Owl tariff, you must enter the car park after 6pm. If entering before 6pm the daytime tariff will apply until 10pm). Please be aware that the car park closes at midnight each evening and opens at 6am the following day.

Accessible Parking


Located on deck 1 of our car park are 22 accessible bays. Additionally, 

The Durham Shopmobility Scheme is located on the same level adjacent to the pay station. Those with limited mobility can hire motorised scooters, manual wheelchairs, and power assisted wheelchairs , to assist in accessibility to Durham’s shopping and leisure facilities.

Shopmobility is for anyone, young or old, with a temporary or permanent disability.

You will need to register on your first visit, so take along identification which shows your name and address. You can then hire equipment on a short-term basis (per hour) or on a long-term basis (2 days or more).
